THANH’S TOP TIPS FOR TRAVEL IN HANOI: Long Bien Bridge
Hi everyone. My name is Thanh. Welcome to Found Vũ’s blog.
I have been living in Hanoi for 9 years now and I’m going to use my experience, and love for this city, to show you a side this beautiful city you may not have seen before.
Let’s get started!
- The first place: Long Bien bridge (Cầu Long Biên)
Do you know how old this bridge is?

The answer is 117 years old now. This bridge was built from 1898-1902 when the French ruled Vietnam. It’s only 14 years older than my great grandmother!
The picture above was taken the first time I went into the Long Bien bridge in February 2019. It was a crazy experience for me. Firstly, I always had to look back to see whether a train was going to creep up behind me. Thanh’s top tip: ask the vegetable sellers on the path along to the bridge when the train is due. Lastly, the Red river is just underneath and there are gaps in the track that you can easily fall in between. It happens! Trust me! I climbed onto the bridge and thought ‘I don’t know how to swim.’ But if I have to say, even though it was dangerous, it was exciting; just be very careful but IT’S WORTH IT.
Here is my video walking out of the bridge
If you don’t want to be too adventurous, you can walk around ….

Walk around to hear the rhythm of life….

You can also see the bridge far away to see how beautiful it is
Taken from Serin Cafe, Hanoi
This photo was taken in Serein Café & Lounge opposite the bridge, address: 16 Trần Nhật Duật street, Đồng Xuân ward, Hoàn Kiếm district, Hà Nội.

Opening hours: 9am – 11pm. Busy hours are noon and sunset. If you want to do photoshoot, it’s better to go early morning 9am when Serein Café & Lounge opens. I would recommend the top floor and the passion fruit juice. Yum yum!
